Dwantrina Russell is a passionate advocate for raising awareness about the critical issue of domestic violence and empowering women to break free from abusive relationships. As a survivor of domestic violence herself, Dwantrina understands the challenges that survivors face in their healing journey and wanted to create a space for them to come together and support each other. Dwantrina was inspired by her mother, Pastor Margie 'Gustavia' Russell, who provided a safe haven for numerous women with children at her shelter for battered women. To continue her mother's legacy, Dwantrina established Gustavia Pearls Women's Outreach, an organization that aims to support survivors of domestic violence and focus on fostering self-esteem, social support and offer hope for a journey to healing. Through her unwavering commitment and tireless efforts, she has received the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award and gained recognition in local and national media. As a fearless leader, she actively collaborates with community leaders, law enforcement, legislators, educators, and shelters to provide survivors with essential resources and support.
Beyond her advocacy work, Dwantrina is also a devoted mother to her beautiful children and grandchildren. She recognizes the importance of family and feels grateful to God for the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives within her family and through her organization.
